Marquita Hill and Don Lightfoot, retired professors from Virginia Tech, formed a trust to fund Othakarhaka core programs in 2012. They continue to support our key interventions: sustainable agriculture and agroforestry, education scholarship, family planning, and the community library.
The Groh’s Family Trust
Agness Grohs and her family trust have been supporting OTK through I.D.A. since 2020. Many of the girls they have sponsored are currently attending the top public Universities in Malawi.
Ron Weiser Trust
The Ron Weiser trust has been a strategic but silent supporter of the OTK since 2018, partnering with the Michigan Ross School of Business. In 2022, the Ron Weiser Trust sponsored a 1M+ tree planting initiative and our Cyclone Freddy agricultural relief project.
Sofie Roux
In 2022, 18-year-old Sofie Roux surprised OTK when she donated a solar-powered mobile computer lab called a ‘Boombox.’ It provides 20 laptops, a modern printer, projector and a free community hotspot that supports 2000+ students from local secondary schools.
Passing on the Kindness Scholarship fund
Founded by two University of Michigan MBA students Akbar Arsiwala and Rahul Naik in the year 2023, the Passing on the Kindness fund supports three medical students on the OTK scholarship program. They have also donated medical supplies to our community clinic.
Immaculate Heart Community
Since September, 2023, the Immaculate Heart Community of California in the U.S. has supported girls in secondary school and university through I Demand Access.
