Volunteer Spotlight: Mr. Mpawa

Every movement needs pillars and for Othakarhaka Foundation, Mr. Mpawa is one of them. A founding volunteer, Mr. Mpawa has offered his time, energy, and heart to nearly every program since our inception. From education and healthcare to environment and youth mentorship, he has remained a steady and humble presence, never asking for recognition only eager to help.

This season, we found him quietly arranging seedlings at the Kazembe tree nursery, his hands covered in soil, his face focused and calm. It was a moment that perfectly captured his spirit: no fanfare, just quiet impact.

Across the years, Mr. Mpawa has trained youth in tree planting, sustainable agriculture irrigation systems, helped with clinic outreach, and taken part in house construction under the Bricks of Hope Project. His knowledge of the communities we serve, especially in rural Mulanje, makes him an invaluable bridge between Othakarhaka’s mission and the people we reach.

Volunteers like Mr. Mpawa remind us that real change is built day by day with love, presence, and patience. His journey with Othakarhaka is proof that kindness is a lifelong calling. We are deeply grateful for his unwavering service and honored to share his story as an example of what it truly means to pass on the kindness.
