Real Estate Talk Malawi Features Othakarhaka Foundation

Real Estate Talk Malawi sat down with Ida Puliwa Mwango, founder and executive director of Othakarhaka Foundation, to discuss the powerful impact of the Bricks of Hope Housing Project. The interview, hosted on their YouTube platform, spotlighted how this grassroots initiative is providing free, secure homes to vulnerable families across Malawi each built for just 3 million kwacha.

During the episode, Ida shared how the project began as a response to the widespread housing crisis following Cyclone Freddy and Cyclone Jude. Many families, especially female-headed households and elderly caregivers, were left homeless and without support. With limited resources but strong community support, Othakarhaka stepped in to offer more than just shelter, a chance for safety and a fresh start.

Ida spoke about how, despite not having large donors, Othakarhaka started building homes every month, thanks to efficient budgeting, local partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to kindness by our volunteers who contribute the little that they have to support some of the works of the organization.

The episode resonated with viewers by highlighting not just the challenges, but also the possibilities that arise when compassion meets action. It reminded us that even modest resources, when used intentionally, can change lives in a lasting way.
