Matthew Pang Joins Othakarhaka Foundation as First International Volunteer

In March, Othakarhaka Foundation welcomed its first international volunteer, Matthew Pang, who has joined the team in Mulanje to support work at the community clinic.

Matthew is a student researcher graduate from the University of Michigan School of Medicine, with a strong interest in children’s health and community-based care.

His connection to the Foundation began in November last year in the United States, where he attended a lecture by the Founder, Ida Puliwa Mwango. Through that interaction, he was introduced to the work being done in rural Malawi, which later motivated him to travel to Mulanje and contribute his skills on the ground.

During his time with us, Matthew spent his time learning about the Foundation’s programs and supporting activities at the newly established pediatric clinic. His presence also contributed to ongoing efforts to strengthen the clinic, particularly as it begins serving children from surrounding communities, including those under the Foundation’s sponsorship program.

Matthew’s involvement marks an important step for the Foundation’s Volunteer Program, which aims to bring together individuals from different backgrounds both local and international to support community-led work.
