On Tuesday, Her Excellency Justice Esme Chombo, Malawi’s Ambassador to the US, visited the Othakaraka – Passing On The Kindness (OTK) office in Mulanje. The Ambassador’s visit aimed to learn more about OTK’s mission, projects, and initiatives, showcasing the organization’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities.
Ambassador Chombo was impressed by OTK’s comprehensive programs, including: Empowering girls and young women, Feeding programs, Tailoring and fashion designing school, Computer programs promoting STEM education, Monthly housing projects, Community clinic and Sustainable agriculture and agroforestry
The Ambassador praised OTK’s commendable work in building sustainable communities and rescuing girls from early and forced marriages, ensuring their return to school. She also acknowledged the dedication of OTK’s 6700 community volunteers, contributing $0.07 monthly to support the organization’s programs.
OTK Founder and Executive Director Ida Puliwa expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Ambassador’s visit and support, recognizing the significance of such esteemed recognition.
This visit follows the successful fundraising collaboration between Ambassador Chombo, OTK friends, and partners in Los Angeles in March, to support more girls in Malawi through the Othakarhaka Foundation.
