Memory is 19 years old and comes from Mtsikita Village, T/A Nkanda in Mulanje. She is bright, determined, and full of dreams. When Memory lost her father, she also lost her only source of school fees. It could have ended her education. But it did not. Memory’s determination stayed strong.
Even at Chambe Secondary School, she often faced the humiliation of being sent home for unpaid fees. Her teachers saw her potential and reached out to Othakarhaka Foundation. With their support, she continued her studies.
Today, Memory has been selected to study for a Bachelor of Science in Forestry at LUANAR. She is the first person in her family to attend university. Her achievement is not only personal; it is a victory for her family, her village, and all young girls who dream big.
Recently, we visited Memory. We brought school materials and words of encouragement for her new chapter. She spoke passionately about her dream: “I want to bring back the trees that our children’s children will sit under.”
With support from I Demand Access – IDA and Othakarhaka Foundation, Memory will continue to receive guidance and support until she graduates. Her story is a powerful reminder that perseverance and opportunity can change a life.
