Heading to UNIMA: Estery’s Journey

Estery is from Mwanyali Village, Mulanje District. She joined the Othakarhaka education sponsorship program in Form One. From the start, she showed determination and focus in her studies.

Last year, Estery graduated from secondary school. Her hard work paid off. Now, she has been selected to study at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) for a Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Systems.

Estery was raised by a single mother who relies on small-scale farming. Despite the challenges, she never gave up. She dreams of promoting literacy in her village by building a library and helping orphans with basic necessities.

Estery says, “Never did I imagine that I could make it to university. I am so grateful to Othakarhaka and their partners for believing in me by sponsoring my education.”

Her story shows that with support and hard work, dreams can come true. Estery is ready to make a difference in her community and inspire the next generation.
