From Student to Guide: Diniwe’s Othakarhaka Journey

Diniwe Banda grew up in Nkawera Village, T/A Nkanda in Mulanje. Even as a student at Chambe Day Secondary School, he was quiet, focused, and full of untapped potential. Life was not easy. Financial struggles nearly kept him from continuing his education, but his determination never wavered.

Through Othakarhaka’s education bursary program, Diniwe received support to continue his studies. With that helping hand and his unwavering hard work, he passed his MSCE with flying colors and was selected to pursue a Bachelor of Education in Physics at the University of Malawi.

Diniwe stayed the course and worked tirelessly. Today, he is not just a success story, he is part of the Othakarhaka Foundation team. He serves as the Projects Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Officer, overseeing the same programs that once changed his life. From collecting data to mentoring students, he is now the guide he once needed.

Diniwe’s journey is proof of the power of opportunity. He is living the legacy of passing on the kindness every single day.
