Caroline: A Dream for Science

Caroline is from Mbayani Village, T/A Machinjiri in Blantyre District. She lives with both her parents. When Caroline was at Providence Girls Secondary School, the Blantyre social welfare helped her with school fees for the first two years. In Form Three, they could no longer support her. Caroline and her parents worried about how she would finish her education.

They approached Othakarhaka Foundation for help. Upon hearing her story, Othakarhaka offered her a scholarship. This support brought her great relief and happiness.

Today, Caroline is in her third year at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, studying Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons). She dreams of continuing her education to the PhD level and becoming a scientist. She wants to research and discover medicines for pandemics that currently have no cure.

Caroline’s story shows that with support and opportunity, a young girl’s dream can grow into a vision that can benefit the entire world.
