Othakarhaka Foundation had the privilege of hosting visitors from the University of Malawi’s Department of Sociology and Population Studies, alongside colleagues from VID Specialized University in Norway and the University of the Western Cape in South Africa.
The visit was more than just an introduction to our work; it was an opportunity to share stories of impact, highlight our achievements, and openly discuss the challenges that continue to shape the communities we serve. From our education scholarship program and community-led initiatives to the stories of resilience that inspire our mission, the conversations gave our visitors a deeper understanding of what Passing on the Kindness looks like in action.
What made the visit particularly enriching were the open dialogues on pressing social issues in Malawi today. These exchanges of perspectives not only broadened our understanding but also reminded us of the power of collaboration in addressing complex societal challenges.
As we reflect on the day, we are grateful for the spirit of learning and exchange that defined the visit. Strengthening connections with academic institutions both within Malawi and beyond opens the door to new ideas, deeper research, and innovative approaches that can drive lasting change.
At Othakarhaka Foundation, we believe that partnerships like these help us to reimagine development not as something done for communities, but as something created with them. This visit reaffirmed our commitment to ensuring that community voices remain at the center of all we do.
We look forward to the continued collaboration and the possibilities that lie ahead. Together, we can keep building bridges of knowledge, kindness, and shared vision for a better Malawi.
