At Othakarhaka Foundation, we believe that when women rise, communities rise with them. It is with immense pride that we celebrate our Founder and Executive Director, Ida Puliwa Mwango, on her recent appointment as Country-Level Advisor (CLA) for the Alliance for Women and Girls (AFWAG).
AFWAG is a vibrant network of organizations across Africa working toward a shared vision — a continent where every woman and girl can thrive. In her new role, Ida will play a key part in shaping strategies, strengthening engagement, and supporting grassroots initiatives across Malawi.
This appointment is a recognition not only of Ida’s leadership but also of the values that guide Othakarhaka Foundation. From the early days of building an organization rooted in the spirit of passing on the kindness, to now influencing continental-level strategies, Ida’s journey continues to inspire hope and change.
Her story reminds us that leadership is not about titles alone; it is about vision, compassion, and the courage to create opportunities for others. As she takes on this new responsibility, we are confident that her voice will amplify the aspirations of women and girls across Malawi and beyond.
We congratulate our Madam Executive Director on this milestone. May this new chapter bring greater impact, deeper collaboration, and renewed strength to the movement for gender equality across Africa.
