Othakarhaka Foundation has extended its back-to-school drive to Pasani, Nansato, and Mkanda Primary Schools, where we donated school uniforms to pupils from underprivileged families.
In Malawi, every child is required to wear a school uniform, even in primary schools. While many rural primary schools may be lenient with their pupils, considering the majority come from impoverished families, every child must have a school uniform. The lack of it can impact a child’s self-esteem and morale, affecting their educational performance.
At OTK, we are thrilled that our talented teen mothers from the Sewing School, trained under Instructor Austin Manyanya, created beautiful uniforms, showcasing the ripple effect of our “passing on the kindness” philosophy which states that; once somebody gets help from Othakarhaka Foundation, he/she should help another person in need.
During the week, the OTK team handed over the school uniforms to these three schools within our catchment area and the pictures vividly portray the happiness of our beautiful little girls and boys. Tailored to perfection and fitting all sizes, our team ensured that every child received their best-fitting school uniform.
Othakarhaka Foundation expresses gratitude to all our partners, including our inspired fans, donors, volunteers in our initiatives, and members of staff. Together, we can contribute to the creation of better and sustainable communities through education, girls and women’s empowerment, and environmental conservation.
Our long-term goal is to ensure the complementarity of our programs, promoting sustainability. For instance, our Women’s Empowerment initiative under OTK Tailoring School produced school uniforms for our Education Initiative in Primary School, where we support orphans, among others.
