Poverty and hunger leads families to resort to forced, early marriages for their daughters. Sometimes they lack the resources to feed another child, or they hope that their daughter’s husband will care for them as well.

When we learn that a girl child has been forced to marry against her will, we remove her and find her a new home, sometimes with her family and sometimes with one of our volunteers. We provide the counseling, mentorship, and other resources she needs to regain confidence and eventually return to school.
